Graphic Design Final

This is my Final Graphic Design. In my initial design I wanted to have as many pictures of me getting bigger over time and create a pyramid sort of design to show a growth over time. But, for my final design I thought that going for a simpler design that had less pictures of me over time and only include pictures that I thought were really essential to show my weight lifting journey. I was given permission to use these pictures from coach who took them. The two things that I thought were crucial for this project was to include the picture of my actual record to show that I had actually achieved my goal and the quote “Demand Greatness” because this was really important to me during my fitness goal and kept me going. I think the biggest technical issue that I ran into is trying to find out the dimensions of my project. After looking at a peers, I thought that it would have been smarter to have a longer image, that way I could have been able to work out a way to create my idea of a pyramid to my success. But, this actually turned out to be a good thing as through this I was able to come up with the idea to make my final design less cluttered and not have such a busy background. I think that the biggest source of inspiration I have for this design is looking at my friend’s design. He had seen my idea and kind of guided me to having a levels design where I put my sayings at the bottom and my actual picture journey at the on the middle to show my personal growth through the three years. Then to finally have my goal at the top to show that I have reached it in the end.

Design immage rough draft

I decided to create a Photoshop collage for my blog. I gathered the pictures from my old coach’s twitter, with his consent and from my personal photos from my computer. I wanted to use the photos I used in the image collection because they were the ones that show the most improvement from the beginning of my sophomore year to the end of my senior year. The change is shown mostly on the right hand side in how the weight goes up significantly in just a two year timeframe. Next i used the left side of the collage to be able to show the physical changes I went through as you can see how I’ve physically grown between the two. I wanted to use the record as a background because I thought that it would be the display the goal I set for myself to accomplish at the beginning of the journey. I decided to change the opacity of the background to show allow other photos to be shown better and give it a fainter background than the budging green background that would have been there if I hadn’t changed it. Lastly I used our motto “Demand Greatness” as the bottom of the background because it was a huge part of what pushed me everyday to go and lift even when I didn’t want to. I think for the final I will change some of my photos to be different shapes as an attempt to fit each image better and try. I also think I might try and create a pyramid for the final design. I think the pyramid will be good for this because it will show how all of my work and effort led up in the end to me meeting my goal and breaking the record for Redmond High school and our football program.

Topic Introduction: Weight Lifting Journey

I chose to focus my topic on my weightlifting journey that began when I was a sophomore in high school and decided to get big for football. I choose this topic because I remember it being a huge part of my life due to me playing football and running track and my body going through complete transformation from when I started as a sophomore to my senior year. I had such a passion for it I started waking up early in the morning every day just to work out at a gym that was thirty minutes away from my house, knowing that I was going to workout later that day and even challenged my friends in lifting competitions when we were in our schools weight room. My biggest inspiration for starting this weight lifting journey was my Football coach, Darius Terry who took time out of his personal schedule to teach me and the rest of the team how to lift. He always brought energy to the weight room and personally helped me become one of the strongest kids in the Redmond football program as well as break several records that were held before I started doing sports at Redmond. I think Ill gather most of the photos, audio and videos from my coach who keeps a pretty accurate website of how much I lifted and grew. For the first unit I think I would want to create a Poster or a Slideshow collage of all the pictures that I have of me from when I was taking it super serious and going to the gym twice a day. For the last unit I would want to get a video of me lifting weights during my senior and compare it to my freshman year because there will bet a huge change that can be shown.

This was my Weight Lifting Coach while I was in high school. He’s inspiring to me because he put in so much time and effort to show us how to lift and what to do each day and never missed a day.

This Instagram really got me into just the science behind lifting. I liked him because he made it humorous to see how not to go about doing things at the gym and gave the chance to learn from it.

I thought this was really useful while lifting. I loved looking through workouts on this page and how it how in depth it was in explaining each and every exercise.

I usually fill my free time by playing video games like NBA 2k and Madden, listen to music from Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, XXXTentacion and more rap artists , I also really like just playing sports when I have the chance and the friends to play either football or basketball with. I really hope that I can learn a lot about technology and how it works through this course in order to get a better understanding on it going forward because it will be an important skill to know for my major. I hope to make this page in order to media and more stuff about my Weight Lifting topic for Communications 210.
